The 2024 Euromoney Awards for Excellence recognise the financial sector’s leading banks driving innovation, client engagement and market developments across a range of expertise. This year BNP Paribas was awarded 13 accolades, including World’s Best Bank for Financial Inclusion and World’s Best Bank for Securities Services.

Strength across Securities Services

On the global awards, the Euromoney editors highlighted key developments that BNP Paribas has been pioneering. In reference to the global Securities Services award, the publication noted “the French bank has made steady progress in this business over the last decade” and observed that “last year was a strong period of new mandates and client expansion”. The diversification of the business approach in Securities Services was considered a strength by Euromoney, as “the business mix of BNP Paribas securities services is a little different to many other players in the industry, with a more diversified spread of client segments across the buy and sell sides.”

Sustainable finance leadership across multiple spheres

Sustainable finance was another area of recognition with global, regional and country accolades in several categories across the ESG spectrum. Financial inclusion is a central cornerstone of BNP Paribas’ sustainable finance leadership around the world. The accolade of World’s Best Bank for Financial Inclusion is testament to this strength over the last 35 years. The Euromoney team acknowledged the progress on the Bank’s objectives, noting “the bank is leveraging all its resources to reach six million individuals by 2025. It is well on its way”.

Across Latin America, Euromoney highlighted the Bank’s regional leadership and noted that “Latin America has become a particular area of strength for the French bank” with several leading transactions structured by teams in the region across the SSA, financial institution and corporate client segments. Furthermore, at a country specific level, BNP Paribas was awarded Belgium’s Best Bank for ESG for its commitment to sustainable finance innovation and having a high market share. It was also awarded India’s Best Bank for Corporate Responsibility for accelerating positive social impact and gender equality through educational and entrepreneurship programmes.

European financing recognised

The Bank’s European leadership was evident throughout this year’s Euromoney awards. BNP Paribas received prestigious honours including Best Bank for Financing in both Western Europe and Central and Eastern Europe, and Western Europe’s Best Bank for Wealth Management. In the financing categories the editors explained how the Bank “has a powerful corporate and institutional franchise across the European continent, especially on the financing side”. BNP Paribas’ steadfast focus on the transition to a low-carbon economy remained a central theme across these awards. The Euromoney teams also noted this momentum as “the bank had a particularly busy year in real assets, leading on renewables deals and incorporating several innovative new structures”.
