A tangible buzz of energy and thought leadership emanated from BNP Paribas’ 4th annual Global Markets Conference in London this month.
Included in this assembly of industry leaders were 430 of the bank’s most significant corporate and institutional clients as well as prominent guest speakers.
The exclusive event’s attendees gained valuable insight on highly relevant topics spanning global politics, economics, investment, sustainable finance, digital transformation and artificial intelligence. The conference sparked engaging discussion through the day, with Social Media providing a window in to what has quickly become one of the industry’s landmark events.
In his opening remarks, Olivier Osty, Head of Global Markets at BNP Paribas, set the scene outlining the unique challenges shaping the financial markets today, such as Brexit, trade wars, negative interest rates, and climate change. All of which are making the world a harder place to navigate, and financial risks harder to manage.
The bank’s Chairman, Jean Lemierre, also attended, speaking to CNBC at the event, before joining a panel discussion on the outlook for Europe.
Asset Managers gathered on stage for a compelling discussion on the investment outlook for the year ahead, moderated by Senior FX Strategist Parisha Saimbi.
Luigi Speranza, Chief Global Economist, interviewed Luis de Guindos, Vice President of the European Central Bank, covering inflation, monetary and fiscal policies.
The bank’s Women in Global Markets initiative hosted a roundtable with Daniela Schwarzer, Director of the German Council on Foreign Relations, Anne Marie Verstraeten, BNP Paribas Group Country Head for the UK, and Olivia Frieser, Head of BNP Paribas Markets 360.
Between sessions, clients could network over a coffee, or experience BNP Paribas’ sustainable finance strategy in action, visiting a project supported by the bank in Kenya’s Kassigau Corridor, through a pair of 3D goggles:
