In this year of
challenging market conditions, Mergermarket, a
leading investment banking news and intelligence service, has once again
recognised BNP Paribas as the financial adviser of the year for Central &
Eastern Europe. This is the second time in three years that the bank has won
this award.
For the purpose of its
awards, Mergermarket carries out a holistic review of candidates’ achievements
in the given year.
In 2020, BNP Paribas
again demonstrated its capability to execute landmark M&A transactions and
support its clients in various sectors across the CEE region, in particular:
- advising Vectra in its acquisition of Multimedia Polska, resulting in the creation of a leading nationwide telecoms player in Poland;
- completing several disposals for E.ON in CEE, allowing it to fulfil its commitments to the European Commission in relation to the pan-European transaction with RWE: the sale of innogy’s power & gas retail business in the Czech Republic and the sale of E.ON EKER in Hungary;
- advising Sanofi in the sale of OTC dermocosmetics and other treatment brands in Poland, Ukraine and Russia;
- advising EP Global Commerce (Czech Republic) in its voluntary takeover offer for Metro AG.
